it could have been worse- i have heard horror stories of lathes almost being written off because of pcb's and controllers

How old is your lathe? Barry. There are running costs but that is a bummer
My lathe is about 5-6 years old w820 the new model is w821

At £65.00 not the end of the world but I am the sort of idiot that would keep looking at the old one and get a schematic of it and replace the faulty part.
Either before spending me dosh or to keep it as a spare.
