Kits that demand a 13,4 hole leaving a thin skin like veneer on the the pen body.


I drilled a blank in faux ivory that was 15mm across with a 13mm stepped shaft drill. When I finished drilling the hole I accidentaly looked up and the Faux Ivory where I had successfully drilled had sagged quite a lot at the solid part so I held it up briefly and it recovered The pics show the blank and the finished pen body, I put a piece of paper on the kitchen table hence the pics.


Not intended to start a debate but it worked out a 100% success for me. I cut it off the blank made a special device after glue up to support the blank turned it down in teeny steps. I normally use thicker blanks but down to this one left. Its a mongrel product IMHO but the customer threw the challenge to produce this pen to match this letter opener.
