My preferred Drills

I often refer to these drills,for me longevity,sharpness and accuracy, almost nil breakout,I have sets in imperial and metric. Swear by them for all uses.

Bucks, they are Dewalt extreme 2 drill bits, available from Screwfix amongst others. Googling will bring up loads of suppliers. They will more than likely be metric, imperial are harder to find here.

Black and Decker have sold these as “Bullet Drills” for over twenty years here in the UK. I bought mine individually from Homebase. They aren’t really needed when drilling on a Lathe though, standard twist drills work fine and are available in a wider range of sizes. Try buying a 10.2 Bullet drill. I bought my Bullet drills as a quick and dirty alternative to using a counterbore.

Agreed, great drills.
I have a metric and an imperial set. I ordered my imperial set from Amazon here in the UK.
They were shipped in from the US. Took just 5 days.

I have a metric set of those, would love a imperial set but have a new set of Sutton Viper Bits.

The metric sets are readily available in the UK Screwfix sell them.

The imperial sets are not so easy to get hold of, I imported mine from the USA.

Letter and number drill sets are commonly available over here.

Drill Sets

I bought a number drill set years ago very cheaply. I haven't bothered with letter drill though as I have quite a lot of drill bits from about 8 to 13mm in mostly .1mm steps. If I need to fill a gap I just buy the bit I need. I’ve found eBay a good source for quality bits in .1mm steps.
