Hello my friends,
I tried again to cast my own blanks in polyester resin.
I wanted to obtain a crushed effect, and in part I achieved it, but I expected the crushed bits to be more small, nevertheless I like how the cast turned out.
The bits are too large, because I messed with the curing time and it was already too cured to be easily crushed in smaller bits.
Since I used aluminium flakes instead of mica powder, part of the powder floated on the top of the cast.
I managed to obtain four 2x2x15 cm blanks, so I still got 3 of them.
I will do another casting, and it will be the last for quite a while, since I'm out of resin and I'm searching for PU clear resin instead of polyester (I'm starting to get sick of the smell of this stuff, really sick)
This is the result:

It does look like a superb cast, I have to wear a vapour mask when I use PR, awful smell and quite dangerous.

That is a beautiful blank you've made there Francesco but I'm not a fan of that kit and have had several fail whereby the threaded part breaks off in the cap end.

Now, I'm officially scared.
Gonna do some crash test tomorrow, because i really love this kit.
It's one of the few kits that use, #6 nibs, and its quite large, so It's more comfortable for people with larger hands like me.

Great job on the blank and the turning. I like the look of the kit but now that I know about the problems with it will not buy any.
