A while ago I asked what can I use this old drill for,

Note the brown stuff that grew on it after we had unseasonable rain that coming in near horizontally, the first time since I built the veranda onto my shed.

A bit of a clean up.

I made a spindle sander like Dereks.

Now I keep it covered when not in use.

Well done Mark you have made a useful machine out of something that looked destined for the tip, I bought a drum sanding kit and use it in a small milling machine when I need it.

Mark I have such a set but worried about the morse taper letting go. When you were at my place I showed you my dedicated sander that also goes up and down I find this very handy and easy to use.

I do trust you will not have probs.

Great job Mark I find mine works a treat at removing the dust if you keep the gap between the drum and the table quite small, the good thing is that you can lift the table so as to use all of the paper on the drum.

By the way that is exactly the same set I have.

Peter.

Years ago I made a similar set up for my drill in my shed 3/4 HP, I pinched off my father.
The only time I had a problem with the chuck dropping out was when I use to knock it out to drill on my lathe.
For some strange reason drill chucks seem to multiply in my shed.:nooidea:
There is another on on the way.

This one out side does not have a Morse taper unfortunately, which was one of the reasons I bought it home in the first place.

Glad you showed us your sander, it gave me the kick in the guts I needed to get my act together and make this.
BTW I called this drill press Derek.
