:goesred:As part of my workshop clean up I unearthed some of my part finished projects some of which I'm ashamed to say haven't been touched for years.
I'm hopeless 'cos if I'm not entirely happy with the way a carving is progressing or I lose inspiration I put it to one side and they've sort of been breeding.
The warrior head in walnut is around 10" tall, the others are a mixture of woods and sizes.

It's the fault of you lot on here encouraging me to try my hand at turning pens:nonono:

Roll on retirement:wink:

I know the feeling about jobs started and not finished. I have just started to sort them out and get them finished. I am working on one now.

Really interesting stuff there Lons. Hopefully you will finish one day. Must be real talent there especially in the human faces, because they have to be realistic of they will jar the eye. They are pleasant and interesting to look at keep going!

I just got a starter pack of three carving tools for Xmas.

I know exactly what you mean mate. Bet we've all got a "do it later" box. I do like the warrior head. The detail and symmetry are beyond what i could hooe to achieve. But, as you've said. Bloody pens!!!!!!:funny::thumbs:

Bloody Hell Bob, that is amazing, I love it. The warrior head is super as it is and won't need a lot of finishing off will it?

Are your skills endless?

Thanks for the comments guys, one day I'll get them done.
I'm not sure about the talent part as very few of the designs come from my imagination, most are copies of something I've seen and adapted a littleand everyone is capable of copying. I put the warrior away because it doesn't feel quite right and I couldn't put my finger on what it was. There's probably about 50 hours in it already and it's a long way from finished.

The best advice I ever read on carving which probably applies to turning as well was "you cut away the wood that offends your eye, when there are no offending bits left, it's finished".

Bloody Nora Bob I to would love to see some of them finished you are talented mate copy or not I would say 90% of art work is copied from somewhere your talent is found in being able to do it I purchased a set of carving chisels when I was told to give up turning I took them out of the box put them in a draw and they have never seen daylight since I just wouldn't know were to start so just for me mate at least finish the warriors head
