That's probably because PNG Rosewood IS a species of Padauk!
Not a true rosewood but beautiful nonetheless. It is botanically Pteracarpus indicus and the burrs from very same tree are traded as the well-known Amboyna burr.
It is marketed as PNG Rosewood in reference to its rich rosewood-like colour. Can also be sold under the name of Solomons Padauk.

Nicely done as usual mate.
Reminds me a bit of Padauk.

Thought you might like to see other pieces of ng rosewood

Just paddling around in my stash room some more pens to come using NG ROSEWOOD the so Called Golden Amboyna can come from the same growing tree and all the derivations shown. Bit of figured Padauk in front of one pic horizontal. Such a sweet smell coming from the Rosewood.

Peter.
