Need a expert

Yep I am in the market for a expert in repairs.
I did write to Beaufort inks for some help on this and I did receive a email back asking for some photo's of a very important pen (sentimental history) of a Fountain pen that was bought in Venice for my son and was snapped while in his inside pocket of his suit jacket, anyway. I have replaced the pen but I would love to have this pen repaired BUT now I would like it converted to a refillable rollerball pen.

the pen has a 8.15mm thread that has snapped at the base of the section and the cap clicks on to the pen. I will upload photos later when I work out how o post them

So I finally found my phone and managed to retrieve the threaded parts and nib for a photo,

Pewter pen for repair and if possible convert to a refillable rollerball.



So can it be saved or is the pen dead ??

Hi, this may be a daft Q, but hane you tryed a little super glue?. I have used it on a pen some time back and it work a treat.

Thank you Geordie no I haven't tried super glue because I don't know what the material is and it might react poorly to the unknown material, plus now I've that it might be possible to convert too a rollerball that is my route exploration

OK I will try the glue But I don't hold up much hope as the thread has also split so I suppose I will have to wax the female part of the barrel so It doesn't stick together to keep it in line

A refillable rollerball nib still require a Section in just the same way as a fountain pen nib housing requires a Section. Given that it's the Section that is broken, your only options as far as I can see are to either repair it or to make a new one. Making a new one will possibly also involve re-cutting the female thread into which the section connects, since I think your chances of finding a corresponding die for the existing thread (it's probably nominally 8.2) are pretty slim I would think.

Thank you Phil for your advice and I under stand what you are saying I'm just going to bin it or put it in the attic as the wife will want it. It was bought to celebrate my son's GCSE'S as he did really well (4 years ago now) again thank you for you advice

I tried to superglue in a broken piece of the thread on a fountain pen I was given when I went to high school, It didnt last.
But then again super glue may have improved since way back them.
