Rather than swamp David’s post with pics I started a new one. Peter asked me if my boat was finished, and the answer is nearly. After much delay it’s due for delivery next Tuesday so I don’t have finished pics yet, but I’ll post some after the launch. For now here are a few progress pics

That looks fantastic. I have been watching a few youtube channels on narrowboats. I might hire one for a day or two this year.

Looks like the cat has got the cream as that is what the boat is the cream on top. It is surprising how much is in them nowadays with all the space saving devices

People are very clever with the space they have, I once saw a bathroom cabinet built in to the bathroom door. We have a wine rack built in to the kitchen floor. It keeps the wine cool as it right next to the steel base plate which is naturally cold from the canal water.

Looking good Ray. Not long now then until you'll be living the dream. I like the wine rack idea. Is one enough though?

There are a few good YouTube narrowboat channels, Cruising The Cut, Country House Gent, and Journey With Jono are the ones I follow. Two of them are made by ex TV news reporters so they are well filmed and edited. Some people are really bad at making videos, I find them painful to watch.

You should do at least a week to get a proper idea of boating on the canals. We’ve managed a 90 mile round trip in a week, which I know sounds crazy when you can do a 90 mile trip in a car in a matter of hours, but at 3 or 4 mph it’s 7 days of cruising upwards of 7 hours a day. :love_it:

We had a look at Stenson marina a few months ago. The Bubble Inn is a nice pub and apparently won an episode of Four in a Bed on Channel 4. We’re mooring at Mercia Marina just up the canal from Stenson. You could pop over sometime Eamonn, if you like.

That sounds like a plan mate  once you are sorted and launched let us know and come over.

Yes, Bubble is a nice place to have a pint and a meal. The little cafe at the side of the lock is very busy in summer and the handmade cakes are good too.
