hi to all,
I took the plunge after reading many hours of posts and i gleamed the best advice was to join a forum as this is an invaluable source of help and information.
So here I am
My name is Stewart, I've reach that age where I have got a little bit of spare time and I can at last rekindle my enthusiasm for wood turning that I had when I was a lad at school,
I have been in the motor industry for 48yrs with the same company, but now it's my time as they say, I am a complete novice at turning and as yet have not purchased any equipment, again I have done plenty of reading and watched videos, but the time has come to invest
So I will be asking questions, many that have been asked before no doubt, so I apologise now, but I look forward to being a member and look forward to many years of my new hobby

Hi and welcome many people to ask here. remember that even though you may get different answers from many on here even though they are different does not mean that they are all wrong as there are many different ways to do many things in woodturning. As long as what you do is safe then have fun.
Just remember the main thing is I am always right OK if you believe that you will believe anything

Hi welcome

As someone who only took this woodturning lark ( now a mini obsession) up middle of last year ... stole part of the garage for a workshop and bought some kit... I feel I know where you are.

Some great people on here and if like me you ask lots of questions you get a range of answers based on their knowledge and everyone learns something from someone else... it’s great.

If I had any advice to give it would be join a club and get some professional tuition to get you going... I am doing both and you learn lots from those willing to share.
