Hello all

After reading through the various posts and threads on this site, I decided to give it a go. It looks like a friendly place to pick up some sound tips and advise. I look forward to contributing to your forum.

Kind regards

Thank you all, what a nice response. Another newbie, from the
same county!!!! What are the chances??? I look forward to getting involved. I think I have to post a few times before I can start putting pics on, but I will when I can. Straight from the start, I am very open to criticism, but I like it to be constructive. Again, thanks for the welcome:up::up:

I think you'll find you can upload piccies already. You only need a couple of posts I think - I can't precisely remember, to my shame, but if not two, then it's five. Tell us about the weather in Cumbria today or something, then you're good to go.

Cheers Phil. Its Cumbria, so basically its wet and cold and if you want a forecast for the next 12 months, it will be wet and cold with a high probability of snow. :rolling:

Welcome Craig. I am not too far from you either. We are in danger of having a Cumbria and Morecambe Bay group on here. Wet cold and a chance of snow sounds like a good description really.

Hi and welcome Craig hope you are enjoying the hobby so far what else do you turn or want to turn. As they say no question is silly especially if you don't know most all turners had to start somewhere even if they started by taking a course and many have made mistakes.
I know I have in the past but they seem to get fewer well I like to think they do.
I know the pieces I resign to the bin are failures more to some of the designs I am trying rather than turning mistakes but there are still some like a catch in the wrong place or time of the turning.

I'd like to have a go at some pepper mills and goblets sometime. I'm really enjoying the pens at the moment though. I turned about 20 over the last 6 months, mainly for family and friends. I have had orders for 7 for Xmas off work colleagues, which is nice, I have 4 left to finish off this weekend. I turned a wedding pen for the gent who owns the company I work for, which went down well with his now Wife. So just pens for me for now:thumbs:
