Hi guys. I recently got into wood turning 6-8 weeks ago, and I must say I'm really enjoying it. Here are a few of the things I made so far. Any criticism good or bad welcome

Hi Stephen and welcome. You pens look great but as Terry said if you had a white background you would see the pen in more detail

Some well turned pens you have on show Stephen, not bad at all for the first pens you have started to make ..

Noticed where you live, my Father came from Ballybofey .. :winking:

Hmm I can't comment about the photography because I'm no David bailey either but I make a fair few pens, So for my tenpennorth as follows:

In the first 2 you appear to have gone under the dimensions of your bushings and indeed in the first one it would appear that there was a wobble in either the bushing or the mandrel, if that happens again, just stop the turning and turn the bushing 90 degrees and start again if it happens again get new bushings, if its the mandrel try not to compress it too much.

In the next 3 you appear to have done the opposite ie not turned down far enough, although I do rather like that echo of pyrographed rings on the comfort pen.

Still if that's what you are producing after 6-8 weeks then all credit to you:up: Another couple of weeks and you will be competition .

Thanks everyone for the welcomes and the advice. Ill try the white background next as it definitely makes more sense. And thanks Pierre for the tip on moving the bushings that's new knowledge to take in and to improve upon.
