As has been said already on these pages, Rizheng are producing the "Traditional Pen". Dont know where it firsat came from except that it was available though Craft Supplies and Axminster supplied a version with a postable top as the Artisan Fountain/Rollerball, and then Timberbits amongst others took it up (inevitably manufactured by others) and they all stopped.

Ridiculed by many as there is no cover section for the lower end of the cap, and the plating on the nib holder used to be so terrible that the concealed plastic clip that held the cap on rubbed it off after a while. You used to have to sit down with a needle file and gouge out a section of the cap to allow the c;ip to fit into it, but someone discovered the concept of product development and managed to design this tedious requirement out of the latest version of what is otherwise a popular pen for the public.

Well its back. Again.

And there are some changes, all for the better.

The top of the cap is now three rings deep and incorporates the clip so no rebate.
The clip is now a single colour without the black stripe and is a bit chunkier.
The plastic section to hold on the cap is provided already fixed to the clip and top and this works very well so there is no constant adjustment with a screwdriver to get it right.
Its available in chrome and gold
the plating is better

Heres a batch of rollerballs.

Thanks for the update and pictures Neil - really helpful to a newbie. Do you have any pictures of them open and also could you picture one against another pen type as it would help me to see the size relationship

Cheers Andy

They're very nice Neil, they're all superb, but what else would I expect?

I bought several of both rollerball and fountain pen a while ago. I made up one and found the cap to be quite loose and the brass tube shows at the end. Maybe I should make up some more of them to perfect it.

Good to see them back, I always liked them and nice to know they have improved.
I bet we will be hearing them being slagged off before long though.
Let them get circulated first init?

Admiring your variety in blanks as well Neil takes them into a new class of choice IMHO do you have to label some to remember the names from time to time I know I would found some blanks last night that were like family one time the names have faded out for me now I am thinking of calling them Pen 45 or something.
