Hi to all
Thanks for allowing me to join this forum. I am not totally new to turning wood in general but have never turned pens. I am from Cambridge and work as an electronic engineer, maintaining large machinery controlled by PLC's and inverters this is the job that puts the bacon on the table. I have always been fond of wood and woodworking and equiped a home workshop to practice it as a hobby.I did purchase a cheapo lathe and really struggled with it so it was sold and I concentrated more on making built in furniture for the house This led me to buying a fair Few Festool products and that was in part to blame for selling the lathe. I was lucky to have access to a friends lathe to keep on turning but this is not the ideal situation but I did learn something you need better quality in tools and equipment. Since the purchase of the Festool products I have decided to sell my Startrite table saw and a Bosch mitre saw to make space for a lathe or 2.(I still have a Festool mitre saw who needs 2 mitre saws) So today I bought a nearly new and not much used Axminster AT1016vs this will be the first lathe and once the table and mitre saws are sold I will buy another lathe an Axminster AT406WL variable speed lathe. I decided on the 1016 because it has the same thread size as the 406. Well thats how I plan to revive my journey into turning.
Regards
Jan

Hi Jan and welcome.

Ask as many questions as you like no one will bite your head off but as you get to become a seasoned member they may take the mickey in a friendly way that is. Give them as good as you get.

Enjoy this hobby in all its forms from bowls to pens and everything inbetween.

Hi Jan,
welcome to the pen forum. Hope to see your pens soon,
Kelvin

Thank you I do like your website and I will not just yet show my wife the leather bags your wife makes but you can expect an order sooner than later.

Welcome aboard Jan, my hubby likes to have two of everything in his workshop, lets hope that doesn't include wives :funny::funny:
