Hi to all
Thanks for allowing me to join this forum. I am not totally new to turning wood in general but have never turned pens. I am from Cambridge and work as an electronic engineer, maintaining large machinery controlled by PLC's and inverters this is the job that puts the bacon on the table. I have always been fond of wood and woodworking and equiped a home workshop to practice it as a hobby.I did purchase a cheapo lathe and really struggled with it so it was sold and I concentrated more on making built in furniture for the house This led me to buying a fair Few Festool products and that was in part to blame for selling the lathe. I was lucky to have access to a friends lathe to keep on turning but this is not the ideal situation but I did learn something you need better quality in tools and equipment. Since the purchase of the Festool products I have decided to sell my Startrite table saw and a Bosch mitre saw to make space for a lathe or 2.(I still have a Festool mitre saw who needs 2 mitre saws) So today I bought a nearly new and not much used Axminster AT1016vs this will be the first lathe and once the table and mitre saws are sold I will buy another lathe an Axminster AT406WL variable speed lathe. I decided on the 1016 because it has the same thread size as the 406. Well thats how I plan to revive my journey into turning.
