Hi all,

Four nice wet blanks that I cut today. Going to wet turn them this afternoon, put them in a bag with shavings and leave for a while.

Hopefully they will turn out ok as, I think, the grain looks great. I think they're Oak, but not too sure.

I though Corona was a drink ......

I look forward to seeing what you do with them Frederick. How long do you plan on leaving them before using them.?

Hi Tony

I don't really know. I have never dried wood this way before but as a guess, I would imagine 6 months minimum. All I know is that wet turned bowls dry quicker than blanks.

If you have a spare day or two, rough turn them roughly to shape seal the outside and let dry, or put the roughed blanks into a bag of shavings remember if you do the latter to remove them every week and turn the bag inside out otherwise you will end up with mould on them which is not good for you either.

Make the thickness about 1" for a bowl of 9" this will allow for any movement and let you return to final shape. You could turn them to the finished size and let them warp you can get some interesting shapes.
