At a meeting of my guild forever ago the Guest speaker a timber Scientist with slides of his years in the area spoke at length on timbers like Meranti and specifically about the way they grow in tropical areas where the grow without apparent growth rings because they continue to grow the year around. In the early days of the IAP there was a member who made priceless things from the nearby pallet dump where he lived some incredible grain and character on our forum recently firewood with excessive ripple in Western Australia Jarrah has been a staple timber to frame houses imagine the offcuts that result.


No surprises all timbers have character some surprising how you find them.
