Oak and Sapele Jewellery Box with hand made hinges they are more robust than the little brass ones
Finish is waxed and polish

Lovely box and hinges Barry but I am not so sure about the lining, I don't like the exposed edges I am afraid.

Nice box but have to agree with the felt. Something worth trying is to use two thin pieces if modelling ply one shorter than the other then wrap the felt over the edge, look in the two boxes I made and also at the diagram of how I did it.

Yep the edges are crap the felt would not cut I think cheep:vangry:

i use cereal box. cut into panels to suit the sides, base etc, allowing for a double thickness where it folds over. cover the card, stick the card to the box.

I use copydex glue for it all- fabric to cardboard and cardboard to timber

Another excellent material to use is leather I bought ten bags of offcuts from a large project at our huge Parliament House for peanuts Egyption Leather enough to last years.

A very nice box but I agree about the lining. The finished edge is ragged which is a shame as it spoils an otherwise great little box. It's a good learning curve.:thumbs:
