Straight off of the lathe. I rough turned this Oak blank a while ago and it promptly split so I left it in the pile and came across it and decided to repair the split and make a feature of it, there are also some other splits.
I think I need to work on the butterfly fits
It measures 9" X 1 3/4" and is finished with Chestnut sander sealer then satin top coat finally a rub over with some woodwax22

Thank you Vic.

On another site someone suggested using a router that cuts the hole through a template and when a collar is added can cut out the butterfly to match the hole, only then did I realise that I had that set:goesred::goesred::goesred:.

That bowl has lots of character Derek, I love it. I’ve got one of those router insert sets, good gear.:drool:

Thank you all.

Having seen this done before I thought it was a candidate to try some butterflies

I wonder how many more blanks I have with splits in them must go through the wood store.
