Sorry well turned nothing wrong there but not for me the black looks to messy but that's just me I'm the odd one out every one else seems to like it so your on a winner

I really like that. Would this just be the iron oxide version of what we also call ebonising? Yet another item on my ever growing list of things to try.

Rub Vinegar on with triple 0 wire wool will turn Oak jet black

Sorry not for me either, all black or all oak would be good.
As above experimenting is good for the brain to know what the outcome is.

And something various shades of beautiful dark blue along the way.

Hi guys,
Thanks a lot for all the replies.
The reason I wanted to try this, was after I made the bowl on my website.
The bowl turned out great, coated it twice with som white oil, and it has a lovely silver colour.
But this one got sanded too much, but i think it brought something special with it.
Have made a few more after this one, but it is quite difficult to get the right finish with CA afterwards.

I love the way you have done the finish Allan, it sure does look nice. :thumbs:
