I turn lots of different little things and the other day came across a bag of old copper coins in my box. I had a bright idea, why not clean some of the smaller ones (1/2np) up and insert them into the base or handle of things, you know, wood and copper....
Here's the rub....which side would you show, the head with date on, or the reverse with the coins denomination on?? I say the head, my missus says the tail.....hmm
:thinks:

I'd say tails, but it might be best of three :funny::funny:

I say the date side if the date has any relevance, I make commissioned pens with coins on them and it is always with the dates showing as that is relevant to the purchaser.

Date side for those over here I use our ex currency pennies that have a Kangaroo and the date or earlier we used the english pennies when the Kings or Queens strings were more firmly attached.

I have one sure fire way to clean them real easy you buy a spade bit just a bit bigger than the coin on the lathe turn a round stem most ant size over the coin size carefully grind the sides evenly on the spade bit then place the coin in the firm fit and polish with the metal cleaner of your choice. How when and why you mount the coin is up to you then I use metal spray laquer works for me.

Have fun Peter.:thumbs::thumbs:
