Oh bother! Are these tubes jinxed?

Vic was kind enough to give me some lovely blanks when we met a few months back, and I set about making a Mistral with a nice purple acrylic (or polyester?) one. That blew out on the nib barrel :sob:
So I cleaned up the tubes and dressed them in another beautiful blue blank, only to have that give out as well :sob::sob:
Not to be beaten, I went for broke with an absolutely fabulous cross-cut Laburnum blank
Turned and finished the cap, and it is fab:thumbs: but then had a catch on the barrel :vangry::vangry:
In between times, I have made three other pens so I don't think I've completely lost it :praying:

Have to reviewed your glueing technique? There doesn't seem to be a great deal of glue between tube and blank in your photo. That may be a contributor to the problem.

Glue needs to be true Graham. When I first started the demonstrator said use as much as you can when gluing as if someone else was providing.Never agreed buy bit had a certain truth in it when underdone.

Thanks for the comments everyone. When I stripped it back, I was disappointed at how much (little!) glue was doing what it's meant to!
Poor workmanship unfortunately :goesred:
