Old Olive

Hi all, these are going to Cyprus next week to a very special recipient....(more later). Firstly the wood was sourced from high in the hills in Cyprus from Olive trees of over 100 years old. It's also been stored a while and is quite dry and hard, some further pieces will need stabilising or casting!!...
Still here are my two Levech fountain pens

Coals to Newcastle ,beaut idea. I am always ready to see Olive wood,the Island people will be happy to receive them mate.Never felt the need to stabilise my problem always with Olive is it is so very dense Lovely pens.

Yes Dave, 5 coats of melamine lacquer,
Peter, some of this stuff is so dry it's cracking and crumbling and as it historical I want to try and use it.
Angelo, I haven't finished the 3rd which is a lot darker and was going to pair it with gunmetal fittings....

Early in my pen turning adventure I had the pleasure of making 5 pens for a co worker using olive. Those were the only olive blanks I've ever turned. I remember it was lovely wood to turn.
