Some people were confused with the combined corkscrew/bottle stop that I made a while ago. The idea of leaving wine in a bottle once it was opened was unheard of. :winking:

So here's a slightly different version. A combined corkscrew and bottle opener. The kit came all the way from PSI in the USA via a friend and the wood is Olive with a microcrystalline wax finish. The wood was lovely to turn and the kit fitted together nicely. I'm still finding it a challenege and a bit time consuming frying to get both sides of the corkscrew handle to look fairly even....ish

David looking at your result it has merit in that for display and sale it could be called a novelty item, adding interest to sales, as gifts to friends interesting. How strong is the corkscrew part mate will it stand up to a stubborn cork or bottle top? Love the Olive wood.

The corkscrew appears to be the same as the bottle-stop version and I've had no issue with the one I made. The central metal casting has 2 spurs that stick out at least 1 cm, so the tubes really need to be pressed quire hard on to the spurs to fully engage and leave no gap. This seems to make the overall t-bar capable of taking quite a pull on a stubborn cork with no flex of movement.
