Olive

Bought a new mandrel yesterday whilst at the Toolpost open day for turning slimlines on, so like a kid with a new toy I thought I best give it a whirl this morning.
This blank had Olive written on it & had that distinctive smell but is very brown in colour

Finished with friction polish then Hutt wax on a gunmetal slimline.

That is a pretty blank, but it doesn't look like olive to me.

I share Jim's reservation - it's not like any olive I've ever turned. If I was asked I'd say it was elm, maybe.

Nicely turned and finished, but it doesn't look like any olive I've ever seen. Whatever wood it is, it is really nice.
