Just sussed out I’ve been such a k head lol

Had another blow out on some African wood this morning with a brand new drill bit in my dp.

I’ve worked with modding metal parts on cars and bikes for years and always had the slow and steady (spray with water keep it cool) way of working.....

So after blowing out the wood and have had a couple of acrylics too googled speeds....

So changing the belts about I’ve changed from 500rpm to 1000rpm....

And flown threw 2 woods and some acrylics clean and smooth .

So yes I’m sure a few of you will be chuckling, and negative replies always welcome so I learn.

And I’m always first to call myself names

Glad to hear that Graham, I never turn pens below 2,500 rpm, acrylic 2,900 rpm. very sharp tools of course.

I have set my drill press on about mid speed as it is a real bugger to change the belts.
Blanks I mostly drill on the lathe, slower on acrylic, resin, a bit faster on wood, if I think it might split or shatter I use a centre or spotting drill to start the hole.
