Now Woody… you have to be very careful when making bowls in particular, be very careful not to go through the bottom. Surprised you did that, never done that myself. I suppose you’ll stop doing it when you get a bit more experience!!

No, just a laugh!

For those who won’t know, I was one of three or four guys, new to woodturning, who Woody kindly invited to his home and workshop to pass on some of his time acquired skills. I think it must have been twelve or fourteen plus years ago. We had a great day in his workshop, which at the time was a double garage, during which he introduced us to some of the finer points of bowl turning. During this, and I remember it was a sycamore blank I had brought with me, I managed to go through the bottom! It’s been an enduring memory of an enjoyable day! We had a great day, he taught us, Lady Vi fed us well and we departed armed with more knowledge than when we arrived.

That is such a nice story and epitomises this forum.

The best thing I have done all year was to join these forums and hear from you good folk :banana::banana:
