My neighbor had a large blow down in a storm. 2 weeks later another limb went down. This one did damage to her garage. It punched a 2 foot diameter hole in the roof. The tree was rotting in the middle but wasn't apparent. Insurance said to remove the tree. I have enough timber to last awhile.

Last week one of my turning mates thought it would be fun to have a bowl turning marathon. We knocked out 25 in one afternoon. I was beat by the end of the day.

The tree was a Hackberry.

All the bowls are in the 6-8 inch range. When dried they will be used for a club activity.

Well done Terry. I managed to buy some wet Oak from a treefeller nearby. Cost me £10.00 (about $8.00) for 6 large diameter logs, some where over 18iches thick. Did quite well there. I have already sawn some into managable sizes and sealed the ends. Just have to wait for a year or so for them to dry out.

Sorry about the damage to your neighbour's house though. Must have frightened them when that happened. Hope it repairs OK. Nice wood too.

If you rough turn them and seal the outside there is a good chance they will dry quicker you may still lose some.
