Hi everyone,

Since my health emergency last week I have not been on as much as I would like, I have been told to stay in bed for 3 weeks followed by light duties.
Since then I have been informed I need to reduce any stress I may have in my life.

I have difficulties getting up to my shed and that causes me a little stress at times, sadly I have come to realize that wood turning and pen making also give me stress and as such have reached the decision to pack it all in. I have thought long and hard before coming up with that and feel it is the best thing I can do.

Over the next few weeks I will be coming up with parcels of kits, blanks including acrylic/resin (maker unknown) along with my lathe Axminster Workshop AW305WL Woodturning Lathe - 230V | Axminster Tools (I will sell that for around £325 buyer collects)

I have tried to contact some members here to let them know before hand, so if you have a missed call from me this is what I wanted to tell you along with added details.

I hope to remain an active member of this forum as an ex-pen turner and look forward to seeing all of your amazing pens and other turnings, and as most of you know I will try and comment on all photo's.

Thank you to you all for making my journey as a pen turner an easy one.

Hi Gary, so sorry you have to give up your turning but you have to do what is best for your. I wish you the best of luck in the future. It will be nice if you keep in touch as we all like your humour.
As you know I make my pens as fundraisers for Blind Veterans UK & would be greatly interested in any slimline kits you may have for sale as I’m now running short of kits.

Hi Gary, thank you for your kind words today, I fully understand your reasoning and have to agree it needs to be the right reason for you and it is. I think your new projects with the 3d printer should restore some creative vents that you have and I want to wish you all the best with it. Please don't be a stranger on here and you have my number if I can help otherwise.....
We don't oftern put our health first or second but we should all think more about it....
Good luck Garno:face::face:

Gary, I'm sure that this is a decision not taken lightly. If your body is telling you things and your stress levels are telling you something then it is wisdom to listen and respond, which you have done.
I'm sure that you will be able to find a replacement hobby that brings you satisfaction and is less stressful for you.
Thanks for your time on this forum and look in from time to time.
Take care, big man, and keep well.

Alan

Cheers mate,

It was great chatting with you (as always) yesterday, even if it was a struggle for you to get a word in edgeways :funny:

You are right when you say we don't often put our health first or second, we should all listen to our bodies and take heed of the messages it sends us.
It took a doctor to ask me about resuscitation before I listened to mine, and that is far too late.
I escaped a bullet last week and I am so relieved I did and as such I have no other choice but to change my lifestyle completely, that means 3D printing here I come, Once again I jump into a hobby that I know nothing about, at least this time the learning curve will cost me next to nothing. Per hour the electricity will cost me 3.25p and roughly 10p for filament, whats not to like :banana:

Thanks Alan,

I have thought long and hard before coming up with my decision and feel it is the right one for me to take.
I am enjoying 3D printing at the moment and think that will become my main hobby in the foreseeable future.

If I print off anything pen related I shall post pics on here as well as try and comment on any pics you good folk post.

Take care mate
