Had a day off from being mad today. Decided to make a box with a finial, which is something I've not done for ages.
Made from Paduak, with heart and sapwood inclusion, a Yew inset textured lid, and an Ebony finial. I did initially make two finials and not glue the first one in as ive done that before and it looked cack!!
C&c welcome as usual:thumbs:

Love it Brody, especially how you have used the heart wood to your favour .. :winking:

Great box and finial but I am sorry to say not together. The finial looks just too heavy/out of scale for the box, also I would have brought the lid up a bit so that it is level with the top of the box.

Sorry but you did ask:ave_it::ave_it::ave_it:

Blooming heck Mr B, you will have someone's eye out with that, great finial and a crack in box, just not sure they live together?:whistling:

It's brilliant mate,not as mad as usual but just as nice

Definitely not as mad as usual but still very nice :thumbs. But individually, like Dalboy, I love both parts but separately. The finial is way too big for my taste :bwink:

It's lovely, I think it would be better if the lid was flush, cracking decoration on the lid:thumbs:

cheers fellas, feedback is always taken on board, and the finial is a bit on the weighty side and the lid did need to be flush, but give a bloke a chance. im a bit out of practice with normal stuff:whistling::funny:

Not only can you make good stuff out of scrap but also out of more good stuff. Another feather in your cap Brody, thats lovely.

Got to agree with most of the others Brody, two fine bits of turning so long as they are separate.
