Pear wood slimline

I've been visiting my friends in London for 50 years now, this was from the pear tree they had to cut down a few years ago. ?They've asked me to make pens out of the wood that's been in storage for many years. This was a little soft but with careful skew chisel work It's turned out quite well I think. I suspect the is a touch of spalting there, what do you think. Finished with Yorkshire grit & Hampshire sheen.

The only very old pear tree I helped fell and cut up looked like A Boab tree. It turned and yes all fruit trees are worth while IMHO. So your pen is vital provenance for your friends.
