Pearlwood knife started

Got asked to make this on monday,ordered the blank on tuesday,got it cut and glued wednesday and did the initial shaping and drilling today

Here's the blank sitting on the block of pearlwood

Quick outline of the scales

After been glued up,the outer profile is done on a spindle sander and holes for the pins/lanyard is drilled.

Thanks Jim,it's the first time using this wood and I've been given a lot of it,will probably make a pen out of it soon :ciggrin:

Matt the knife is racing on mate prodigeous work =thanks for the proress pics as well.The wood looks like our Silky Oak in a few days I will look up and try to get a pic of a few types of that the way when cut shows up the rays is delightful much like the effect of cross grain Hairy Oak. I will make a separate post so as not to divert from yours.

Thanks all, this is were it's at now, got a few more coats of oil and polishing of the blade/brass before it's ready.

You certainly do make the knives look good when using such wood as the above Matty .. A great little niche you have my friend, well done .. :thumbs:
