Here is a product from a company called Woodpeckers. It is very high class and expensive as it's milled from billet aluminum. http://www.woodpeck.com/ottpbcenterfinder.html

This is my version. A little rough but it works just fine. Made 4 out of Cherry, 2 right hand and 2 left hand. Told my wife I saved $120.

Nicely done Terry, love the bit about teling your wife you saved $120, what are you going to spend it on?

Only useful I think if your blanks are square though are they not? A lot of my wood blanks are well out of square or banana shaped. :funny:

Bob I ended up looseing money because I spent $150 on veneer. If the blank isn't square you mark across each corner and use the square you've drawn as the center.

Gosh, I like that aluminium one. If I get bored (not likely) I could make one of those on the mill. Anyone care to guess how many hours it would take me to do it!? :funny:

No point in using the template in that case Terry, just as quick and accurate to use a ruler. I love jigs though so might have a go at an aluminium one :thinks:

Drilled every one of many thousands of blanks selecting the centres by eye, recommending decent jaws for use with X and Y movement vices that allow you to adjust uneven blanks easily to correct the verticals. I did enjoy the fairy story that Terry dreamt up. For those that depend on special guides it remains a beaut idea.

Peter.
