Thanks Phil i can see the device now. Normally it's my fingers a grimace and my eyes squinting:praying:

This i why my left index finger as no feeling i crushed it on the mites saw and the end of my thumb is missing. 30 years site joiner makes you do some silly things when you are under pressure to get a job done.

Wish I had taken more care using a drop saw ages ago to cut aluminium and holding with my fingers ,the aluminium drifted, caught the blade wrecked and part of the blade embedded in the ally. The shaft of the saw wrecked. It took me fully ten minutes to realise just how lucky I had been. These days I value slow starting on these machines, previous one go off like a rocket. Routers the same soft start is wonderful.

Peter.

I see a flaw in the Penn State ad there is astep down at the cutting mark with the guide higher than the offcut,I would feel more comfortable with the blank seated on the flat right across but I know you would not tolerate this as well.

Most of the time I will be using this for othr projects where some parts need to be the same size yet help keep fingers away from the blade
