Apart from the usual stuff like wood soap stone resin what other materials have you used I used slate from a snooker table i found at the back l of Steve Davises house.

I'm just going to have a go at making some polymer clay blanks can't use the lathe yet after my heart attack so its something to do to keep me occupied

Copper, Brass, Aluminium, pewter, Stainless steel, laminated plastic, plywood as well as your usual run of the mill materials my best sale was a piece of oak from HMS victory a mate gave me ans I dressed a Jn gents in it sold for £75

Have made blanks from Dental Drills, ReBar,Tyre Guages,Compressed Air jointers,Hand Blasters for Compressed Air Guns, Cartridges in Brass, At least a dozen other materials anything that looks like a future Pen.

Lots of fun.

oh, and antler, shells from Alex... and I've been considering a stick of Blackpool Rock although I don't know why but the thought won't leave me.:thinks:

All the above, but my most valued has to have been two small but very old pieces of Huanghua wood that was given to me from an antique restorer that wanted a pen making from it and I could keep the second piece for making one for myself.

And he found a customer for me as well..:thumbs:

Yes Peter, it is good as I understand isn't can't be exported out of china now..

The piece I had came off an old piece of furniture that was dated back to 500ad. As Neil has said in his posts, it has a story. That's something I could not match with any other wood I had ever turned..:thumbs:
