Hi all,

I'm new to (and possibly getting addicted to) pen turning and I've had varying degrees of success. But, my initial supply of pen kits is dwindling and I'm looking for some more before I have to resort to spending my evenings on the sofa watching Emmerdale!

Can anyone recommend a good and reasonably priced supplier of pen kits? I can't find any supplier near me in Bedfordshire and have been searching the net. There are packs of 5 on eBay - has anyone bought these and are they any good? Axminster Tools sell big bundles of 100, but they're about £230 and I don't think I could sweet-talk my wife in to letting me spend that much...

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

I have started buying the better pen kits from Timberbits as most others on here but for slimline kits I use Ebay and either fun e turnz or penkits uk both give a good service at a reasonable price and they're usually next day delivery. I haven't had any problem with the kits from them, which I would expect with them being so cheap so continue to do business with either. I have now got to the position where I can wait for most of the kits I need so can order from Timberbits which for some reason or other turns out cheaper than buying them here! Bizzare! And of course there are a few pens which you can't get here such as the Roman Harvest which is very nice.

Timberbits mostly here too but also

PenCrafts.co.uk

Jim is a member on here & provides excellent service.

Yes, I've also used PenCrafts.co.uk but I think every order I've had from them has been wrong to some extent requiring me to call them to get the right thing sent. Their stuff is good but it does get a little frustrating.

If you want a small number to get you started then Flea Bay and a chap I've had a lot of dealings with is Fun-E-Turnz, really quick delivery. For anything more than a handful though Timberbits in Oz.

Hi Nobby ..welcome.

I'm a TB fan also ...cheaper kits, free postage over around £50 spent ,but even if you don't spend enough to cover free postage their p & p charges are way below what most UK dealers charge.

Nobby, use timberbits and make sure you spend over 80 aussie dollars to get the free postage. However if you spend over 200 ad your parcel will arrive in 5 days by courier but they will collect import duties from you which will bump the price up by about 35%. Most of us spend about 100ad a time.
