Have dealt with this company several times, never been a problem, quick delivery, very helpful with a specific ask I had on an occasion, I see no reason not to deal with them again. If I ever find differently I'll share my experience.

Sites with similar names keep cropping up. Invariably they supply Rizheng kits. Some are reliable some are not. Use them if you choose but caveat emptor and don't expect top quality.

Personally I prefer to stick with trusted traders like Taylor's Mirfield, Turner's Workshop, Turner's Retreat, Stiles and Bates and obviously Beaufort for the better quality kits.

Yep, Sam has been around a while.

A member on here as pentrend..

Used to be called pentrend.co.uk at one point..

He makes and sells pens on local markets and fairs as well.

Never heard a bad report about him.

EDIT..... yes still called pen trend on Facebook.

How does someone become trusted if no one is willing to give them a try. Big doesn't always mean best. I've been in retail most of my life and I know that the same goods sold in different outlets can vary tremendously in price, especially non branded goods.

They are not the same Glen I have not done business with Pen-kits.uk so cannot comment on their service but have done business like yourself with Tony and at one time had a good experience with him when he replaced a faulty part in a kit and as Bill says he does donate to charities.

Bill, I have dealt with Tony ( PENKITSUK ) for some time, no problems. I don't think pen-kits.co.uk is the same as penkitsuk, what do you think.
Glen
It's a different firm but going by comments on fb people seem to get confused between the two.

Of those I listed only Turner's Retreat and Stiles and Bates could in any way be described as big. You don't need to have "been in retail" to know that prices can vary and are no indicator of quality, but Rizheng is bottom end wherever you buy it from and at whatever price. I stand by my advice of caveat emptor.

Of course, but if your decision is to buy "bottom end" then you might as well get it at the best price possible.

There is seemingly a bewildering confusion of websites that I term under the general heading of penkits-dot-whatever, but there are two particular websites that are being confused with one another in this thread.

The one being asked about by Glen is pen-kits.co.uk - it is run by someone called Sam and his partner Rachel. Guilty of serial spamming on this forum, and although I may be wrong, I believe banned back in Jim's time, as they are similarly banned from at least two facebook groups that I know of. They keep no products whatsoever in stock, and when they have enough orders to justify a bulk purchase from Rizheng, that is what they do.

The other is penkitsuk.com - run by someone called Tony. Tony in theory is a member of this forum, but hasn't logged in since November 2014. They keep products in stock and I understand that some of their profit, at least on the face of it, is donated to charity. Their catalogue is also predominantly from Rizheng, but in their favour (I have no direct experience of their customer service) they do serve to make Rizhengs product easily available to all, without the perils of overseas shipping or import taxes.

As Derek has observed, if you wish to use inexpensive kits, you might as well assure yourself that you are getting the best deal in terms of price and customer service, and I pass the above on for information only. Each must make up their own mind from whom they wish to purchase pen kits.

Always provided it actually turns up, is what you ordered, is complete and undamaged and the vendor will resolve issues. Not always the case with some of these here today gone tomorrow suppliers.

Don't knock it until you've tried it is my motto.

To avoid confusion for others reading this post the company I refer to where I have received good and prompt service is penkitsuk.com

In fairness to Both web sites they are identical in name terms only and people do get confused between them.

Sam Banks is a penturner (stands on markets regularly) that decided to sell pen kits to like minded people as and when he ordered stock from Rizheng.

I see no issues with that and having met the chap a few years ago I see no reason to say anything against him for the pens or kits he sells. I have never purchased from Sam, however I understand that he provided a good service and customers are happy with him.

Tony is much the same, however I believe his stocks of kits are much bigger. I have never met the guy but have purchased from him from time to time. Always provides excellent customer service and have no complaints.

Both suppliers concentrate on entry level kits that have a place in the penturning fraternity, their customers and the pricing level suits them all as well.

As Phil has said, there are many .co.uk pen kit suppliers developed over the years. They have their place in the world, however it's always worth knowing what they sell and what customer service they provide along the way as well.

EDIT..

check this link out for info, I knew I had seen it somewhere. Good feed back for them

Thank you for all the replies

As expected all different views. I have used Tony at penkits.uk for over 3 years and been very satisfied, will be using him again. The only reason I asked about PEN-KITS is that they have celtic twist kits which Tony does't. I know some other sites have the pens but at 3 times the price of pen-kit and seeing I have not seen these kits I didn't want to pay a lot. I know you get what you pay for but I,m experimenting
The out come is that I have ordered 2 kits from PEN-KITS and will give feed back eventually to you all.
