Pen kits

Suggestions please for a cheap supplier of pen kits, I have only been playing around with the lathe and bits for a few month, helps with rehab from a stroke, and I have made a few pens for friends and family but have now finished all the slimline kits I had in stock....
I probably would want to be able to buy a couple dozen kits at a time @ 7mm so slimline is the go to....also kits for key rings and the like might be good.
Have been given a few wood pen blanks and 20 corian blanks for xmas so will need to find something to go in them ???
So, if anybody has any good suggestions for a supplier that has kits at prices that are affordable that would be great...by the way, have checked with all the usual uk suppliers but unfortunately they are out of the price range due to not working at the moment..

Prices can vary depending on the plating and kit manufacturer but "cheap supplier of pen kits" is a difficult one to answer as i don't believe there is a supplier that would openly say "I am a cheap supplier of pen kits.. "

You don't say what suppliers you have tried or say how much you want to spend.

As Peter says, DavyG on here or search for ukpenkitsandbitz. You will find he does sets of 5 fancy slimline for around £9.45 depending on the style you want.

Tony at penkitsuk,co.uk and Sam at pen-kits.co.uk are another suppliers that sells reasonably priced kits.

There is also Helen, "funeturnz" on EBay, c

But as Mark said if you search for pen kits on eBay you will find many suppliers. Some come from china or Taiwan so be prepared to wait for delivery.

If you search for "pen kits uk" in google there will be many of them surface.

If you want to get prices less that £1.90 per kit you may need to buy much bigger quantities and get the bulk discount benifit

I have used Tony at penkits uk for quite some time and been very satisfied, also you are helping his charity by buying from him. Slimline £1.60 and key rings £1.50. Don't forget postage.

Like you I have recently started on pens. I found a good way of doing it to start is to get a kit with blanks and bushes as a starter kit. There is a seller on ebay that does olive wood blanks/kits like this. If you pick the generic styles pf pen you get the bushes for future pens. I have bought a good number from different sellers and have found them all to be good reliable sellers. I have also found I enjoy doing the 'better quality' pens. Have a look at beaumont inks who advertise on here or Penn state in america. Penn state will incur customs charges which need to be factored in to the cost. Both of these have a good quality feel in my opinion. There is also Taylors Mirfield and all the others mentioned.

Beaufort ink.. (Typo's have a habit of doing that) Totally agree that Phil's pens and refills are very good quality and value for money. Taylor Mirield are another one as well.

"Importing" wow, one step at a time Kevin, Davy was saying he couldn't afford much, adding handling fees and costs would really hit him for the sake of a few pens.

Davy, If you want to do the pens like Penn state and Craft supplies USA there are UK suppliers that I believe you would be better trialing first.. support our forum suppliers in the buy and sell section for one is penkitsdirect.co.uk

Don't be fooled by the "lower looking" prices and the exchange rate, once its landed on UK soil you will be charged an additional handling fee (by whoever is doing the carriage/shipping), an import tax and the VAT (by HM customs, collected by the carriage/shipping company). That will be on the total package price including shipping costs and any insurance you have on the parcel as well.

Champagne tastes on Beer money haunts us.When I first commenced forever ago pen kits were more expensive than they are now so I appreciate your question. A settling influence on those requests for large numbers needs to be met with the outlay at least of all enquirers to be prepared to stump up the cost of materials including kits et al.
