I have seen one made on the forum before but the centre band puts me off.

I bought a couple off Vince to try and have turned one dressed in one of his acetate tubes.

Not really to my taste but It looks much better in the hand and makes a nice ladies pen as it's smaller than normal.

I'm pretty sure that Vince didn't write the blog on the kit BTW, he's much too busy. i suspect it came straight from the suppliers description. I'll ask next time I see him

Another design abomination. Aesthetically unbalanced with one end having some curvature and the other conceived with a set square and just to prove the designer has no concept of the design rationale, form follows function, he, or she, who had a spare box of centre bands and stuck that thing on, where quite clearly there is no need, functionally, or for form!

Centre bands do not repel me it may not be necessary in this pen kit. Bto b turning may help the design because it is small it may attract women to buy it. Like the method which gives it strength by lowering the biro using the top knurled part. Another outlet for left over short blanks. A good addition to the arsenal at the craft fair but not a replacement at this stage IMHO. Grateful to Lons and Bob, by the way Bob love the sizes with the rule and the comparison mate.

I think the centreband is really not needed and would make a much nicer pen without it, but I suppose it is different enough that some people will like it as it is.

Don't beat about the bush Neil, say what you really think.

My thoughts exactly Peter but having shown it to a few of my wifes ex workmates the reaction was surprisingly good. I've sold this one and no doubt I can sell the others when i get around to making them but not something I'll be buying many of.
As said though it's a way of using short blanks

You've turned it very nicely Bob but I think the Knurling makes it look a bit industrial which I'm not keen on but some would probably like.
