Thanks all,I bought that piece of oak from a carboot, a bloke was selling what was labelled up as 'oak offcuts' but they weren't offcuts,they where the majority of a tree, 3 feet long,3 inch deep and 4 inch wide,got 3 pieces for £4 and the piece above was sitting in the middle of one of the pieces,cut it out soon as I saw it but still unsure,will probably use it to photograph things on,have oiled it a bit
