Hi all, inside turners retreat cataloge they had a spring loaded pen press this is different to the one on there web, does anyone no the code i lost my cataloge. regards mick
If it is the one that you change length buy using the hinged springs then i have seen it in the shop and was tempted to put it in the shopping basket but i didn't dare when the war office caught me with it in my hand ...
I think the flip over depth stops are a great idea but the fulcrum on the presure handle is exactly the same gauge and construction as others on the market and will buckle under a stubborn pen. Reinforcement will be needed.
I now own one and my opinion has not changed. I take Neil's point about the gauge of the metal on the fulcrum but it is no better or worse than other brands in this respect. In my view if a pen needs so much force to assemble that it will damage the press there is something wrong with the pen.
I have fitted t-bolts to mine so that I can fasten it down to the mitre slot in the bandsaw table when in use to keep it steady.
Mick the code for the pen press in the turners retreat catalogue is PP300 price £39.75
Hope this helps. It's the same one I have got it works very well never had any problems with it.
