I have been experimenting with carbon fibre pen blanks and decided to try painting on resin to seal them, but I didn't fancy turning the tube by hand until the resin had set, so I made this jig to do it for me! Questions and comments welcome.

Sounds about right mate fill us in how it goes. I adapted a right angle drive with drop down gear box from an old plant room that turned a valve on and off. I will look it out and take pics. I found an ideal spray I have used with success on burl pen rests, it does dry quickly and the smell is most gone in that day. Real quality.

The rod is acetal and a spray with a silicon spray stops any sticking. However, the resin got inside the tube and was a bu###r to get out! I need to find way to plug the gap between the rod and the tube, probably using Plasticine.

I use spare mastic tube nozzles which are tapered. I cut them shorter & drill the small hole to fit my shaft, push them into the blank ends then onto my shaft. It works for me.
I like your little idea, simple but very effactive.:thumbs:

I've been thinking how to get round the problem of resin in the tube. I think I might try greasing inside the tube with Vaseline, then any resin should be easy to remove.
