Pen virginity lost

Here are the first two pens I have ever turned, As with the bowl I really want to share it with you.

The ball pen is a Zeta made out of Olive it has a twist function.

The Fountain pen I made second is an Omega made from Turkey Oak (My view when looking at it is that it is a stunning pen)

I know your asking Gary but maybe I can help.

Ca finish on these Alan and Medium Ca to glue the tubes in. I know it's not everyone's favourite but the only glue failures I've had on a day course have been Epoxy resin as it really needs a lot longer to set.
I'm not partisan so do what is best for the time available but direct students to look at other glues and other finishes as well.

What finish did you use?

Ended up with 3 coats of CA and burnishing cream in-between coats with the final coat being the burnishing cream.
Up close they do not appear too shiny. I really do like the finish on these and will no doubt adopt it for future finishes. As Neil has mentioned other finishes were explained to me but we ended up going with this one.

Lovely looking pens there.Very well done.One tip I have learnt since joining the forum.Pens can look much nicer when photographed with a white/pale background.There is a photography thread somewhere in the vaults.Well worth a look.
