I've a couple of propelling pencils to make before Christmas, this one is for an architect friend.

The kit is one of those I've been waiting for from TB, so as I've had them a week or more I thought I best get on & make it.

Finished with Hutt wax I'm unsure of the timber it's another blank from Jim, but sorry mate I couldn't make out what you wrote on it though it looked to end in "pave" ? :nooidea::nooidea:

Whatever the timber is Doug, you made a good job of it, it looks very nice indeed. A lovely kit too.

Looks lovely Doug,

Your architect friend will be happy - just make sure he doesn't let it out of his sight at work otherwise someone might borrow it long-term.

Kind regards. Fiona

Not sure if I'd give anything to an architect with a PAVE acronym associated with it, have a look at Paveway :funny:

Reminds me of the old saying - engineers make weapons, architects make targets :whistling:

Too brown for Cocobolo mate, the annoying thing is I wrote down on a bit of paper what I thought you'd written so I could try googling it to come up with a solution, but I can't find the damn piece of paper now

Stayed away from pencils, I like your style and for use by an architect the ultra slim shape will be great what grade lead is available for this kit?

Kind regards Peter.

Thanks Peter, the lead is 0.5mm, means nothing to me but he seemed pleased with it as we met up this evening & exchanged presents.

I was very pleased with my present, it`s called an easyscribe, he has one & knew I coverted it, so he got me one of my own

From the Wiki: "The tree is a major food source for the mopane worm, the caterpillar of the moth Imbrasia belina. The caterpillars are rich in protein and are eaten by people, and the sale of roasted or dried mopane worms can contribute significantly to rural economies. "

Mopane worms are delicious pan fried in a little oil or butter - YUM! Big delicacy where I grew up ...

I think the main use for Mopane in the Uk is as a decoration in tropical fish tanks ..spent a small fortune in the past on the stuff .

Me too Ed, I did keep a fair sized chunk when I started with the pens I turned some but mine weren't anything to write home about.
Unlike these which are very nice.
