Pens turned from Kiaat ( Wild teak, Pterocarpus Angolensis)

These two pens were turned from Kiaat also known as wild teak. the tree's scientific name is Pterocarpus Aglolensis and is found through southern and central africa.

When sanding it tends to clog up the sandpaper. it is oily yes but not as oily as Tambotie. I will take pictures of some other work done with it and post it. it is my favourite wood to work with.
