Hi Guys I have recently seen a few pens that have photographs in the blanks (wrapped around the tube and then cast I assume). Does anyone know who these are available from and what size the photo would need to be for a Sierra style tube?
Cheers

Andy I’m sure this has been discussed some time ago and a few members gluing photos to brass tubes and casting in resin. However I’ve done a quick search and can’t find anything. I would have thought they were fairly easy to make.

Had this one made in America, he made two in one day. For some it is a simple process.

As per Sawes reply. If you haven't got the right equipment just for a one off or if you only plan to do a small amount farm it out.

For finding out the correct size use TT (pi calculation = measure the Diameter and x Pi. (Pi = 3.14.)

Calculation kind of works just a little more to it than that ;)

Only a matter of getting the pixels right to get the right Diameter and length.. From what I remember when my dad and I did it back in 2007.

Just a Bu@@er getting the picture to seal right or the resin effected the finish of the photo. Modern papers may be different now tho.

It was a long learning curve.
I now do around 20 in one go and am shipping quite a few each week.

That was my order but he makes hundreds each week. He is an Airline Pilot for a major Airline who instructs pilots full time. Its not a p.....g competition and buying from America still beats hands down from over here. Really nice guy among so many others. In Australia we have some of the best casters in the world who also work full time. In this forum there are many expert casters with imagination,I admire their work as well.

Never made it a competition P!$$ing or otherwise. I admire all the work people put in to casting blanks and have learnt and helped so many.
I thought the original post asked for someone who could make blanks must be my mistake.
Use the USA casters is the best advice then.

No I was inferring in the UK use people like yourself over here its cheaper to use USA. The competition refers to between USA and UK and Australia no persons named or involved observations only.

Yep, as above Scott, Andy also asked for picture size so thought my comment would help guide him in the right direction, much the same as your reply as well.

As my thread stated, rather than buying all the kit just for a couple then farm it out. Supporting your thread..

misunderstanding there Scott and disagree with your comment.

We have some of the best casters here in the UK, with yours amongst them.

Does seem there was some misunderstanding regarding the term p###ing competition.

Your comment regarding picture size only leaves out a slight calculation for the paper thickness depending on choice of adhesive etc. The diameter to circumference will get close but will fall ever so slightly short if used to the letter.
