Pine cone and field maple

Hey all.
This Sunday, I took myself into the shed, put on some headphones and just enjoyed an hours peace focusing purely on this pen. Im never terribly happy with the photos, as I do not think it does the pen justice, but I hope you enjoy this little one.

Filigri and cones make for delicate shapes and patterns. Keeping your occupation in mind further down the track isolating the pen ,then the arty farty shot. I use a right angle bent piece of cardboard with printed writing on it to manually focus that helps me. This allows a larger image in focus.Train your eyes to the differences of tone. None the less love your pen so much William. Another method I use I stepped clear of vertical or high angles of the pen to a more horizontal raised a little using bits of burl timber etc to rest under the top of the pen. One light from the left pointed hafway behind the image,one light from the right at the image this cancels some shadows and gives shape. A top light helps erase some other shadows all maintaining some kind shadows and softer light.

Thank to everyone for your kind words. photographing hasn't been great for me recently, my Nikon needs a service so resorting to the camera on my phone.
I will have a go taking some new ones and see how i get on.
The pen itself was lovely to turn, spent more time trying to get the cage to fit around the top, without any play.
I've been trying out a new resin, for me, and it is paying off with excellent results. I wont post, as I'm sure you are all aware of how many resins are on the market, and i do not wish to recommend anything without fully testing.
