Well, I attempted to turn the pine cones that Peter posted off to me earlier in the week. Respect to you guys who have managed to actually make a pen with them, i made a mistake with this one in the picture, i forgot myself and came up the blank using a carbide tool, it ripped the blank to pieces .. Well out of four blanks i managed to salvage one, hopefully i can find a blank that compliments this one to make a decent pen ...

Would you like me to put some more in the post? I use a skew and only go in one direction. I use CA as I go just to keep things tight.

Thanks for the offer Peter, i will get my golf friends to pick me some up off the courses they play, will be much cheaper than posting me some pine cones weekly lol ...

Doesn't bode we'll for me when I get mine then! I'm only a learner........

We are all learners when turning something for the first time. Use a skew if possible from the beginning and make sure it is razor sharp. Only go in one direction, keep using CA as you turn, take light cuts and all will be hunky dory:pray:
