Pitch pine slimline pen

This slimline pen is dressed in xcut pitch pine. The blanks look like long grain but are in fact short grain. I cut several slices from the 3”x3”post, cut them into blanks then took two pieces from different slices & married them up in mirror image. I got enough for six pens with the grain in different orientations.
I didn’t find these easy to make. They took very, very light cuts with very sharp tools & lots of patience to stop short grain breakout.
Melamine finished a la Phil Dart.
The last picture of the timber I cut the slices from shows the end grain.
