Last week 2 sheets of 18mm Birch faced ply turned up on site, these little beauties

image_zpsxaynvmbi.jpeg

They are 12'x5' top quality sheets with no voids that I've cut up to make worktops from, having seen the pens Woody turned from ply I thought I'd bring a small off cut home with me & give it a whirl.

The kit is gunmetal & the ply is finished with U beaut cut & wax followed by Hutt wax stick.
I'm really pleased with how it came out & am now thinking of different ways to cut the remainder of the ply to give differing effects.

Nicely done Doug.

You can get some nice effects by laminating a few bits stacked, then drill through "free hand", with a cordless on an angle.

I'm on a similar wave length Neil, I've managed to cut up the bit I have & the pieces are currently clamped up after being glued together.
