Hi everyone,
New to forum and wanted to say hello. I have been wood turning and making pens for approximately 5 years. I took up the hobby after labyrinthitis left me with a balance and coordination problem. It helped immensely. I wish I had found this site years ago, it would have helped to avoid some of the stupid mistakes I made in the first year of pen making.

Welcome Ian looking forward to seeing some of your work. I am sure there are still questions that need to be answered so ask away. I know I still have questions which I will ask as and when needed

Hello and welcome Ian, mistakes? yes, all guilty as charged, if I mess up a pen, I just write it off.

Ian you have added to my previously known medical terms conjuring up tales of Dragons in their dens. I know that making pens can be a wonderful diversion and therapy from life ills.

On another forum a 12 yr old boy joined and I remarked it was 71 yrs ago in yr 12 at high school when the turning bug bit me. We had a revolutionary Head Master who insisted all first and second yr high students enjoyed Metal Work,Woodwork and Tech drawing and that had to include the girls, the fellas had to learn cooking.

Caused a real stir in this the nations Capital I can tell you. Also a compulsory yr of French.

Ian I hope you enjoy the forum and welcome.

Peter.

Welcome Ian. Mistakes, what are they I thought these days they were called learning opportunities or some such mid Atlantic misspeak. Either way we all have them and this is a great place to find out how it should be done ( and thankfully sometimes how it should not!) Enjoy the forum.
